Welcome to Le Fevre Community Children’s Centre.
Your child’s home away from home
    Ages 0-6

Le Fevre Community Children’s Centre was established as a Community Child Care Centre in 1973. More than 40 years the centre has provided quality child care to the Le Fevre Peninsula and surrounding suburbs.

  • About Us

The center is a small Home-like environment, where friendly, dedicated and caring staff work with families to ensure the best outcomes for children and their families.

The Center is one of the few Child Care Centers in South Australia that is owned and operated by the community in which it serves and therefore offers parents unique opportunities to contribute to the management and development of the center.

The center participates within the National Quality Framework and is registered for Child Care Benefit through Families Assistance Office

The center has also been awarded

    • “The Start Right, Eat Right” Award
    • Asthma Friendly Service
    • A registered SUN SMART centre

Le Fevre Community Children’s Centre has also a history of strong community involvement, including walking children to and from Pre-school at Our Lady of the Visitation school and supporting young people within the community through offering Traineeships.

    • Babies 0-18 months (non walkers)

Mel and Delaney work full time in this room and have both worked at the centre for 6 years. In our room we aim to deliver a relaxed, homely environment that is individualized and responsive. We work hard to ensure that parents feel connected and included in their child’s daily life. We have strong communication systems to help support this.
Our programs are child focused and lead, with a strong emphasis on building relationships between children, staff and families.

    • Toddlers 18months -2.5 years

Our Toddler room has 12-14 children in it is run by Jo and Hayley. Jo has been with us for 5 years and Hayley has been with us for 4 years. As children begin to become confident in their walking and more active in their play they move up to our toddler room. A strong focus of this room is building children’s early social skills. Our programs are embedded with a strong language focus and building self-help skills and independence, through a play based curriculum.

    • Pre-Kindy 2.5-3.5 years

The Pre-Kindy room has up to 20 children. The room leaders are Tamara (who has been with us for 10 years) and Felicia (who has been with us for 6 years). Skye also works in this room and has been with us for 10 years.
The Pre-Kindy program focuses on supporting children’s attempts to “do it themselves”. This includes supporting children to toilet, manage their personal hygiene and other important life skills.
Children’s emerging social skills are supported through their play and staff create a language rich environment.

    • Kindy 3.5- 5years

Our Kindy room has about 20 children in it. The room is run by our Teacher Tom (who has been with us for 6 years) and Amy who has been with us for 8 years. During Term times children who enroll in Our Lady of the Visitation Preschool, are walked to and from Preschool by centre staff.
Our Kindy room delivers a child lead program, which fosters independent enquiry, children’s natural curiosity and their problem solving skills. Our program
has a strong focus on literacy and numeracy using Jolly Phonics and other tools to embed early skills.

    • “We have two children aged 2 and 4 that attend the LCCC and have done so since they were both 9 months old. The staffs at the LCCC are warm and provide a friendly learning and caring environment for our children. The staffs show a genuine concern for their well-being and this is reflected across the centre. The Director leads a very experienced team of professional staff whilst being inclusive of parents and family’s needs. The community based child care centre enables us to feel a part of our children’s care and have a say on the issues that really make a difference to our children! “

    • “The decision to send our first child to a childcare centre was one we were not looking forward to. From the very beginning we found the staff at LCCC to be welcoming, caring and highly professional in their interactions with our entire family. When our first son started, we were immediately put at ease by the care provided to him, and also the communication, support and reassurance the staff provided to us. This has continued to be the case when our second son started. Both of our children enjoy childcare. They feel cared for by the staff and are always engaged in a range of activities both inside and out. The overriding feature of our experience at LCCC is the communication we receive from the director, team leaders and all staff.”

    • “When our oldest daughter started with 3 years at Le Fevre CCC we had just arrived in Australia. She understood English quite well, but didn’t speak it. So it was a very difficult her to understand why the other children didn’t respond to her play. All staff members were very supportive and even tried to learn some basic words/sentences in our language. After only 10 days our daughter was fully integrated and had a lot of friends. We really enjoy the cultural diversity of the centre and the way every staff member values our cultural background. Over the last years we came in at least once a year, usually around Christmas, to tell our 3 children’s peers about our traditions”
